Navigate to Edfu and overnight in Edfu.

Depart with your guide to cross to the West Bank of Luxor, where the glorious and fascinating Necropolis of Thebes is located. By no means could this necropolis be covered in one day.
Head to the Valley of the Kings, which contains the tombs of the kings, and to El Deir El Bahari of Hatshepsut, the woman who ruled the country for more than 15 years. There, you will see the story of her sacred birth from the sun god Ra inscribed on the walls of the temple.

Transfer to Luxor to catch your flight to Cairo.

Have breakfast around 7 a.m., travel to Alexandria via the desert road, and spend the day breathing in the Mediterranean Sea breeze.
Arrive in Alexandria and visit the Catacomb of Kom-el-Shoqafa. These tombs were tunnelled into the bedrock in the age of the Antonine emperors (2nd century A.D.) for a single wealthy family still practising the ancient religion. These tombs represent the last existing major construction for the sake of the old Egyptian religion. Then visit the Citadel of Qaitbay. (Optional lunch at a lovely sea-view restaurant.)
Visit Pompey’s Pillar, built in 297 AD for the Roman Emperor Diocletian. The pillar is 9 meters/29 feet in circumference, and it is said that 22 people could lunch on the capital, or flat top, of the pillar.
Drive back to Cairo and transfer to your hotel.
Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, housing over 250,000 objects of art dating back as far as 5,000 years. The most important display is the Tutankhamun collection of treasures. (Optional lunch during tours.)
Head to the Mohammed Ali Citadel, erected in 1183 A.D. The Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali Citadel is one of the landmarks of Cairo, whose minaret can be spotted from any part of the city.
